Astronaut Lacy Veach serves to remind us all that the dreams of today can be forged into exploration and discoveries of tomorrow. While in Hawai‘i, a child once asked Astronaut Veach: "What does it take to become an astronaut?" Veach responded, "You've got to believe in your dreams and you've got to be hard-headed enough to never let them go." http://www.spacegrant.hawaii.edu/Day-of-discovery/index.html

Due to some Facebook issues, the local "Hawaii Homeschool Community" (HHC) group had to create a *NEW GROUP PAGE*. Same group, new page.
The old page is now without an admin so it will still remain available. It can't be deleted without and admin, no one can be added as an admin, they cannot add new members or create events, nor can they manage anything on it. So head on over and join the NEW PAGE... here's a link for you: https://www.facebook.com/groups/HawaiiHomeSchool/ The Kroc Center offers homeschool classes, in addition to other offerings! Call Ari at 683-8382 or check out their program guide (just flip through to the "homeschool" page), at their website, here:http://issuu.com/kroccenter…/…/2015-kch-fall-program-guide/1
Here's another opportunity for teens! It's called TeenPact. Though I have no personal experience with this program, nor any association with the organization that runs it, I've heard a lot of homeschool parents rave about their experience with them in years past. The following information is from an email I received. "Aloha Friends!
... I'd like to recommend TeenPact Leadership Schools to you! TeenPact's mission is to train youth to understand the political process, value their liberty, defend their Christian faith and engage the culture at a time in their lives when, typically, they do not care about such things. In the three years that my family has been involved in TeenPact events, I've seen young people realize that they can understand, and be part of, our American political process and truly make a difference in our state and our country. We have many goals for our children as home educating families — goals that pertain to their spiritual, academic, leadership and character growth. TeenPact provides families the tools needed to train their children in developing leadership and communication skills, how to be knowledgeable and therefore comfortable with our legislative and political process, and to be effective witnesses for Jesus Christ in the public arena. These young people develop a heart for God and a passion to impact the culture, all before they are old enough to vote! TeenPact offers week long classes at the State Capitol. For more information or to register, please visit www.teenpact.com/hawaii. Early Bird Discounts apply in the month of September and 60 days or more before the class. Hawaii is scheduled for: Four Day Class (13-19 year olds) - March 21 - March 24, 2016 One Day Class (8-12 year olds) – March 25, 2016 Political Communication Workshop (13-19 year olds) – March 25, 2016 ... Please see our new promo video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VcRHy17JxJY " [email protected] www.teenpact.com/hawaii There is an Open House for the FETCH program (a teen internship opportunity) coming up on September 16th @ 2:30pm!
