Vacation Bible School (VBS) for 2022!
Here are some churches that have stated that they will be offering VBS programs on Oahu THIS summer! Details listed are those that I was given or found on their websites, but (as always) anything I post here is subject to change. I do not work for any of these churches, so I have no more information than what is listed here. Contact the churches directly to confirm details or for any questions.
- [ADDED 5/22] AMR Chapel (Honolulu / AMR) will be having the same VBS program as the main Schofield post chapel: a Jerusalem Marketplace themed VBS program for families from July 11-15, 6-8pm, with an Ohana Family Meal on July 15th. (808) 655-9198. Registration open 1 June 2022. Email at [email protected] for more info.
- Calvary Chapel Pearl Harbor (Waipahu) is hosting the "Monumental" theme VBS from June 13-17th, 8:45am-1pm, for Kindergarten through 5th grade, for $30 per child ($8 for volunteers). You can visit them online to register! Or call the church at (808) 678-3994 with any questions.
- [ADDED 4/30] First Southern Baptist Church of Pearl Harbor (Honolulu) - informed me that they are hosting a VBS on June 3rd & 4th, 6-8pm, followed by Sunday, June 5th during worship at 9:30am. You can RSVP on their website or contact them at (808) 423-1318.
- First Presbyterian Church of Honolulu at Ko'olau (Kaneohe) - has a "Summer Jam" program with a "Rocky Railway" theme. They shared this info: Climb aboard for mountains of fun at Rocky Railway Summer J.A.M.! On this faith-filled adventure, kids will discover that trusting Jesus pulls them through life’s ups and downs. Summer J.A.M. will be held at our First Presbyterian Ko’olau Campus, on June 13 – 17, from 9a to noon. Registration is open for keiki who have completed K – 5th grade. We will also offer a limited preschool program for our First Prez keiki and a nursery for our Summer J.A.M. volunteers. Early bird special $25: May 1st – 31st. Regular registration $35: June 1st – 7th. Walk in registration $40: June 13th. Partial scholarships available. The fee will be waived for the keiki of our Summer J.A.M. volunteers."
- GracePoint Church (Mililani Mauka)- formerly known as Cornerstone Fellowship & The Gathering - has a single day Deep Sea themed VBS scheduled for 9am-1pm on Saturday, June 18th. For kids who have completed pre-K through 5th grade. Free! Registration is available online.
- Hawaii Kai Church (Honolulu / Hawaii Kai) - will be having VBS from July 18 to 22nd from 4pm to 8pm. It is for ages 4 to those entering 6th grade and the cost is $30 per child. I'm told that registration will open in early June and more details will be on their website shortly before that.
- [UPDATED 5/16] Hickam Chapel (Honolulu / JBPHH) - military base access required - Registration has opened for the "Spark Studios" themed VBS on June 27th to July 1st, 5-8pm.
- Inspire Church (multiple locations) - Instead of VBS, this church is hosts a "Summer Days" program with kid and youth camps available; grades K-12th. Scholarships or partial scholarships may be available. 8am-12:30pm. For more information, visit their website or contact [email protected] (Jr. High) or [email protected] (High School).
1) For kids age 5 through those entering 5th grade: $25, July 6-8, 8am-12:30pm each day.
2) For youth entering 6th through 8th grades: $100, July 10-12, 8am-12:30pm each day.
3) For teens entering 9th through 12th grades: $100, located at Camp Palehua in Kapolei, 6:30pm on July 12th through 9:30pm on July 14th.
- Kailua Community Church (Kailua) - is supposedly having a VBS week from June 20-24. Further details haven't yet been shared on their website as of this posting. Contact them directly for details.
- [ADDED 4/30] Kaimuki Christian Church (Honolulu / Kaimuki) has informed me that their VBS theme is "Monumental- Celebrating the Greatness of God". It will run from July 25 through the 29th, 8:30-12pm, and it is for kids 4 years old through fifth grade. Cost is $25/child and includes crafts, activities, and snacks. Registration is available online and opened May 1st.
- Ko'olau Baptist Church (Kaneohe) - has shared that they are hosting the "Zoomerang" theme VBS from July 18-22. No further details were available at the time of this posting.
- [ADDED 5/22] Leeward Community Church (Pearl City) - conducts their VBS on Sunday mornings (9:15-11:45am), during adult bible study and worship services, rather than the standard 4-5 days in a row that most churches offer. They refer to it as their "Summer AWANA" session. Volunteers welcome & appreciated. Their theme this year is Zoomerang and it will happen each Sunday from June 5 - July 31, 9:30am-12pm. Call 808-456-1340 for more information or visit the church to register.
- [UPDATED 5/16] Mililani Baptist Church (Mililani) - is going to have Lifeway's Spark Studios VBS theme from June 26th to July 1st, 6pm-8:15pm for kids 3 yrs to 6th grade. Register online or call (808) 623-2559 with questions.
- [ADDED 4/30] Our Savior Lutheran Church (Aiea) - has shared they will be hosting a HayDay Vacation Bible eXperience on June 6-10 for kids entering kindergarten through 6th grade. Registration will be available online beginning May 4th. 8:30-10am for K-3rd; 10:30-12pm for 4th-6th. FREE! Includes a HayDay home activity kit, daily activities at Our Savior, a family celebration on Friday, June 10 @ 5:30, and a Honolulu Zoo Meetup on Saturday, June 11 @ 10am. - Pearl City Community Church (Pearl City) is offering the "Monumental" theme VBS July 18-22, 8:30am-12:30pm, for ages 3-12. Registration is $10 and it includes lunch, snack, crafts, and a t-shirt. Call (808) 455-4148 or visit their website to register before the deadline of June 15th.
- [UPDATED 5/16] Schofield Barracks main chapel (Wahiawa) has shared that they will have a Jerusalem Marketplace themed VBS program for families from July 11-15, 6-8pm, with an Ohana Family Meal on July 15th. (808) 655-9198. Military base access is required. Registration open 1 June 2022. Email at [email protected] for more info.
Previous VBS Programs
The churches listed below hosted VBS programs in previous years. They are listed below while I wait for confirmation on if they'll be having another VBS this year or not. Please contact them directly to get the most current status/updates.
- Calvary Chapel Honolulu (Aiea)
- First Baptist Church of Wahiawa (Wahiawa) - replied to my email on 4/25 and informed me that they were still undecided as to whether they will host a VBS this year.
- Huikala Baptist Church (Honolulu)
